Washington County to wit:
On this 19th day of October 1857 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the County and District aforesaid personally appears Joseph Gales Esq. And makes oath in due form that he knows Anna Virginia Tilghman a mulatto woman about twenty years of age to be a free woman and born of free parents in the city of Washington.
