County of Washington, to wit:
On this seventeenth day of August 1857 before me the subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid, personally appeared P. C. Riley, who made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that Littleton Leatherbury is a free man of color, that he has known the father and mother of said Littleton for the past fifteen or sixteen years as free people; and that there is not the slightest doubt that he is fully entitled to free papers, for which he is now an applicant.
