Will of Isaac Varn, Duval County, Florida

“I, Isaac Varn of Duval County, State of Florida do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all wills and codicils by me heretofore made.

First. I give to my slave Isabella, and all the children She may have at the time of my decease, their freedom from slavery according to the Statutes of this State: and I hereby will that the expenses of their emancipation be paid out of any money or property that belongs to my estate after my decease.

And, after all the necessary expenses be paid as aforesaid, for the emancipation of said slaves, I will and desire that the residue remainder of all my estate, real, personal and mixture, be equally divided among my heirs according to law.

In witness whereof, I hereunto require my name and seal to be set, this fourteenth day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Fifty Seven
