I was going to buy my mother some clothes and give her a card. Then I learned that she had been frequently borrowing my brothers IPOD Touch. So I bought her an IPOD Touch instead of clothing, and she was really excited. I was surprised at how much she liked the gift, I never figured 67 year old Grandmothers were into modern day electronics. Not pc, I know. It was good to see her dancing around the house with her IPOD.

This Mother?s Day was also special because my brother was there.

On March 15 my 37 year old brother had a seizure at my house after Sunday dinner. He had another seizure in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and three more after he arrived at the hospital. The doctors had to induce a coma to get the seizures under control. Tests revealed that he had blood on his brain, hypertension and possibly diabetes. They thought he may have an aneurysm, but after a cat scan and an angiogram, couldn?t find one.

He came out of the coma around the first of April. Didn?t remember what happened and didn?t believe he'd been hospitalized since March 15. The doctors had thought he would die and were surprised at his progress. He has to relearn everything --- how to walk, talk, dress himself, and eat, but he's moving quickly.

Throughout this ordeal my mother kept telling me that when they prayed for my brother, they prayed not only for him to live, but also for a complete healing of his body. I was skeptical. The dye from the angiogram damaged his kidneys so much the Dr. thought he would need dialysis for the rest of his life. My mother said not so because they had prayed for a complete healing of his body and she believed that God would grant it. My brother came home from the hospital on April 15. He has therapy and dialysis three days per week. Last week my mother received a call from the Dr. after she dropped my brother off for dialysis. He would not need treatment that day.

So it was a great Sunday. My mother?s prayers have been answered so far. Her children and grandchildren gathered at her house for Sunday dinner and she received lots of cards and gifts. Her favorites? Her son and a shiny new IPOD Touch.
