I am trying to research the possibility of there being a plantation in North Carolina or Alabama in which the owner/owners name was Jolly or Jolley. I am a descendent of a family of Jollys who originated from these two state. In the 1880 census it has my great great grandfather (Alfred Jolly-DOB abt 1834-NC) listed as a farmer in Bluff Port, Sumter, AL and his family (Mary-w, Sam, Johnson, Foster, U.S. Grant, Anna, Sarah, Robert, Charles, Salina, Cora, Rachel May,James Kinnard, Laura May, Rilla A-Mulatto & Martha Williamson) as farm hands or were children at that time. Mary was listed as a housekeeper. Alfred Jolly was listed as being born in NC. However most of his children were born in Livingston, AL. Rachel May was listed as a farmer, also. All of them lived in the same area or plantation in Bluff Port – Precinct 10-Livingston, AL. If you have any information on any of these people or know of a plantation in NC or AL in which my family could have come from please contact me. If you think you may be a descendant of anyone listed above please contact me immediately.
