I am still searching for any information on the Witt Family from Livingston, Ala. One census says his father was from South Caroline and another one says North Caroline. Can anyone please help me go futher in my research.

I am trying to research the possibility of there being a plantation in North Carolina or Alabama in which the owner/owners name was Jolly or Jolley. I am a descendent of a family of Jollys who originated from these two state. In the 1880 census it has my great great grandfather (Alfred Jolly-DOB abt 1834-NC) listed as a farmer in Bluff Port, Sumter, AL and his family (Betty Stewart Jolly, Elizabeth-wife, Mary Ferrell-wife)Sam, Johnson, Foster, U.S. Grant, Anna, Sarah, Robert, Charles, Salina, Cora, Rachel May,James Kinnard, Laura May, Rilla A-Mulatto & Martha Williamson) as farm hands or were children at that time. Mary was listed as a housekeeper. Alfred Jolly was listed as being born in NC. However most of his children were born in Livingston, AL. Rachel May was listed as a farmer, also. All of them lived in the same area or plantation in Bluff Port - Precinct 10-Livingston, AL. If you have any information on any of these people or know of a plantation in NC or AL in which my family could have come from please contact me. I am searching for the parents of Henry Witt, born in 1843, in Livingston, Al. I have the census that says his father was born in North Carolina or Virginia and his mother was born in Alabama. Henry married two sisters (Jane Clay & Morning(Moanan) Clay and had a total of 11 or 12 children.

I have Henry with his wife Jane on the 1870 Sumter County, Alabama census with their children. On the 1880 Sumter County, Alabama census, he is married to Morning (Moaning-Moanan Clay). I also would love to be able to verify Jane and Morning heritage. I have been told they were Cherokee indians. On the census they are listed as mulatto.

I have been searching for a long time and have not been able to go any futher. Can someone please help?
