Affidavit of freedom, Joseph Ambush

Washington County

On this 8th day of August 1857 personally appeared Augustus E. Perry before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the said County, and makes oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that he is well acquainted with a negro man named Joseph Ambush about twenty one years of age, and knows him to be free and verily believes he was born free in the city of Washington D. C.
