In the name of god, Amen. I, William Pullen, Senior, of the County of Halifax and State of North Carolina, Being Weak in body, but of a Perfect & Sound mind and Memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my

Body and knowing that it is once appointed for man to die, Do make & ordain this to be my last will & Testament. First, I recommend my Soul into the hands of God that Gave it and as to my Body, I Recommend it to the Earth from Whence it came, to be buried in a christian like Manner at the sole discretion of my Executor, nothing doubting, But at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same and as to my Worldly Estate which the almighty has Indowed me with, I shall dispose of in the following

Manner, that is to say, first of all that all my Just debts and funeral charges be paid then the Residue of my Estate______as follows, to wit:

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Charlotte Pullen the Tract of land whereon I now live, Containing two hundred acres being the Land I purchased of Jeremiah Brinkley. Likewise, I give to my wife Charlotte Pullen one Negroe man Luke and Peter, one negro woman Sal, one negroe Girl Esther. Likewise I give my Wife Charlotte Pullen two mares & one Horse, to wit Diamond, Bounce & ______I give my wife Charlotte Pullen three feather Beds and furniture likewise I desire my wife should have Twelve head of Cattle to have her Choice out of my Whole Stock, the above mentioned articles I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Charlotte Pullin during her natural life & after her death, I desire that the land I left her, to be Equally divided between my two youngest sons, to wit, Willie Pullen & Ricky Pullen and if Either of them should die the other to have the two hundred acres and at the death of my wife, I give the negroe Girl Esther to go to my son Eaten Pullen to him & his heirs forever. Likewise after the death of my wife Charlotte, I desire that the two negroe men, to wit, Peter & Luke, one negro woman Sal, likewise two Mares & one horse, three feather Beds & twelve heads of Cattle all to be Equally divided between all my Children, to wit, Cloe Pullin, Leroy Pullin, Chaney Pullin, Clary Pullin, William Pullin, Junior, Ludwell Pullin, Charlotte Pullin, Eaton Pullin, Willie Pullin & Ricky Pullin Equally share & share alike.

ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my Eldest son Leroy Pullin all the land lying on the south side of Hill’s Road from Benjamin Cars line to Mary Corbin’s line, likewise I give to my Son Leroy Pullin two acres of land on the north side of the road where his house stands. I give & bequeath unto my said son Leroy Pullin One Bay Horse Colt likewise one Bed & furniture to him & his heirs forever.

ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my son William Pullin all the land lying between Hills Road and the above land given to my wife as far as to a cart path called Pulley’s Cart Way, likewise I give my son William Pullin one horse of Ten Pounds Virginia monie Price to be raised out of my estate & one bed and Furniture.

ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my son Ludwell Pullin all the residue of my land lying between the said Cart Path and Alston Medows and in the said Medows to him & his heirs forever. Likewise I give to my son Ludwell Pullin one horse at ten pounds Virginia Money, price to be Raised out of My Estate, likewise one feather Bed & furniture, likewise, I give my son Ludwell Pullin twenty pounds Virginia money to be Raised out of my Estate to the said Ludwell Pullen & his heirs forever.

ITEM: I give unto my Daughter Cloe Pullin one horse at ten pounds Virgina money price to be Raised out of my Estate, likewise one Bed & furniture to her and her heirs forever.

ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my son Ludwell Pullin one negroe Boy named Peter to him and his heirs forever.

ITEM: I give and bequeath unto Leroy Pullin one negroe Boy Crit__ & negroe Girl Vilet to be equally divided between them two Equally Share & Share alike. ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Charlotte Pullin one negroe girl Lucy to her and her heirs forever.

ITEM: I give unto my daughter Chaney Pullin one horse at Ten pounds Virginia money price to be Raised out of my Estate, likewise one feather Bed and furniture to her & her heirs forever.

ITEM: I Give & Bequeath unto My daughter Clary Pullin one horse at Ten pounds Virginia money price to be raised out of my Estate, likewise one feather Bed & furniture to her & her heirs forever.

ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Charlotte Pullin one horse at Ten pounds Virginia money price the same to Raised out of my Estate, likewise one feather Bed & furniture to her & her heirs forever. And as to the balance of my Estate, Both Real & personal, I desire it should be Equally divided Between all my Children to wit Cloe Pullin, Leroy Pullin, Chaney Pullin, Clary Pullin, William Pullin, Jun’r, Ludwell Pullin, Charlotte Pullin, Eaton Pullin, Willie Pullin & Ricky Pullin Equally Share & Share alike. I do appoint my dearly Beloved wife Charlotte Pullon My sole Executrix & my son Leroy Pullin & John Mathews My executors to this my last will & Testament. I do hereby Disannul & revoke all other wills & Testaments & I do publish & Pronounce this & no other to be my last Will & Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name this 25th day August A.D. 1794.

February Sessions 1795 then this Will alas Exhibited in open Court & duly proved by the oath of Reubin Moore one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and on Motion ordered to be Recorded_______ from. Leroy Pullin and John Mathews the Executors in the said will named came in and was duly Qualifyed.
